On behalf of President Ram Nath Kovind, Union home minister Amit Shah on Tuesday presented the President’s Colour to Assam Police for its exemplary service during the last 25 years at an impressive parade ceremony at Nehru Stadium.
Assam is the 10th state in the country to receive the honour on the day when the present BJP-led government under leadership of chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma completed its first year of governance in the state.
After the presentation, Shah said, “Assam Police has successfully occupied the position amongst the top 10 police force. I feel proud today. There has been an increase in Assam Police force from 8,000 to 70,000.”
