Abstract
Pollution is
the introduction of contaminants into a natural environment that causes
instability, disorder, harm or discomfort to the ecosystem i.e. physical
systems or living organisms. Pollution can take the form of chemical substances
or energy, such as noise, heat, or light. Pollutants, the elements of
pollution, can be foreign substances or energies, or naturally occurring; when
naturally occurring, they are considered contaminants when they exceed natural
levels.
The Major Forms
of Pollution:
Air Pollution
Air
pollution is the worst form of pollution which is caused due to emission of
poisonous gases (from vehicles, factories, crackers), liquid aerosols and
deforestation that kills trees and forests who save our air pollution to a
great extent. Deforestation also is one of the major causes for water pollution
where air pollutants make the water acidic and unfit for drinking. Similarly,
global warming is increasing the temperature of water which is hazardous for
aquatic plants and animals.  The
industrial revolution also is a major cause of pollution. Industrial pollutants
like sulphur dioxide, CFCs, nitrous oxides etc which then mix up with the rain
water causing it to pollute by converting them into acid rains.
